As mentioned in the latest newsletter , the first of this year's highway improvement/maintenance works in this ward is the resurfacing of Reading Road between Hollybush Lane and the Goring Lane mini roundabout/Three Firs Crossroads.
I was delighted to announce this and 3 other pieces of work had made it into the plan. Households along that stretch had been notified and asked not to leave cars on the road during this period.
Unfortunately, partly owing to a holiday, I only recently found out that this work will disrupt the No 2 bus service - its terminating at The Close and not serving Mortimer from 09.30 until 15.30 each day.
It seems West Berkshire Council discussed options with Reading Buses, and the choice was to either do the needed work (and disrupt the bus) or not repair the road at all there.
I sincerely apologise on behalf of the council for the lack of notice about this, which will clearly cause difficulty for people.
The details of the closure are:
Reading Road is closed between its Hollybush Lane and Goring Lane junctions from Monday 23 to Thurs 26 June inclusive, between 09.30 and 15.30 each day for road resurfacing work.
Resident access will be mantained when possible.
During these hours the No 2 bus will terminate at The Close and not serve Mortimer - more details attached
